Working on the Wrong Side of a Locked Door

For The Devil’s Fane‘s first birthday tomorrow, here’s a reflection on labor, effort, and making sure you’re working on the right side of the problem: in this case, a stuck door. When issues arise, we often make facile assumptions about etiology, and that entrenched thinking about cause and effect tends to color how we go about finding solutions. Sometimes, though, we’re entirely wrong in our base assumptions and end up wasting a lot of time, effort, and sweat on attempting to tackle a problem from simply the wrong side. In this second year of the blog’s and my own life (we almost share a birthday), I pledge to place more of my labor on the right side of the portal to achieving my goals. I also use this post to announce planned changes to the site’s look and a giveaway to help celebrate this first anniversary. You won’t want to miss it. To get in on the fun, click here.
